The track ‘Memories of the Future’

The composition ‘Memories of the Future’ is a deeply philosophical piece that Mariia Yaremak wrote specifically for a performance at a special UN event in America in October 2023.

Key themes and the story behind the piece:

– The theme of unfulfilled dreams: the piece is dedicated to dreams that, because of the war, will never come true. Mariia reflects on how people put their lives ‘on hold’ for years, building careers or making plans, but in an instant everything changed: loved ones were lost, and the cities they longed to visit were wiped off the face of the earth.

– Emotional content: the music conveys bright memories of the past, but at the same time serves as motivation to move forward towards new dreams, reminding us that we only have one life.

– Creative collaboration: whilst working on this composition, Mariia received advice and inspiration from the renowned American composer Kim Scharnberg.
