Charity concert and presentation in Shevchenkivskyi Hai
When: 8 August, 18:00
Where: Lviv Open-Air Museum
A unique open-air event is set to take place in Lviv – a charity concert and launch of Ukraine’s first fantasy sheet music book, “The Musical Tales of Ukraine”. The evening will combine live orchestral music, visual art and a great charitable cause.
“When I was at music school, my teacher told me that there are very few Ukrainian works, as our composers were banned for a long time and their legacy was destroyed. It was then that I first felt the desire to help restore and promote Ukrainian musical culture,” says composer Mariia Yaremak. “Today we are taking the first step towards a major goal – to raise funds for books for music schools across Ukraine. That is why every ticket purchased and every lot at the auction is not just support for the project, but a contribution to the musical education of children who need high-quality Ukrainian and contemporary teaching materials.”
The evening’s programme:
– performances of pieces from the collection accompanied by a chamber ensemble from the INSO-Lviv Orchestra;
– special guest – singer MÉLOVIN, who will perform the composition ‘Vitryla’ and the folk song ‘Oh, What a Moonlit Night’ with the orchestra, in an arrangement by Mariia Yaremak;
– performances by soloists Andrii Yatskiv and Uliana Horbachevska;
– a charity auction, the proceeds of which will go towards printing books for music schools;
– an autograph session and the chance to chat with the project’s creators.
Admission is free for military personnel (upon presentation of ID). Seating is limited.
