The album ‘One Life Story’

The mini-album ‘The Story of One Life’ is a chamber piano project by Mariia Yaremak, released in May 2024. The composer describes it as ‘a small composition about a small life’, in which the music conveys the feeling of being alive and the memory of those who are no longer with us.

The album has a clear conceptual structure, consisting of three pieces that symbolise different dimensions of time:

– The Past – ‘Childhood Memories’: a piece filled with nostalgia for childhood and for how things once were.

– The Present – ‘The Story of One Life’: a reflection of emotions and life as it unfolds here and now, with all its joys and sorrows.

– The Future – ‘I Will Always Wait for You at Home’: a very personal piece about waiting for those who will return from the front, and the eternal memory of those who will never come home again.

Mariia admitted that whilst creating this album, she overcame her fear of minimalism and simplicity for the first time. Despite her academic background, she realised that in moments of emotional emptiness, there is no need for many words or complex structures – all that is needed is a sincere sound that helps one navigate the events of the present. The album is available on all major streaming platforms.
