Sheet music for the bandura (collections)

This series of sheet music is a continuation of Mariia Yaremak’s large-scale ‘Ukrainian Fantasy’ project, adapted specifically for the bandura. The main idea was to give traditional Ukrainian melodies, dear to everyone’s heart, a completely new sound – as if they were soundtracks to modern fantasy films. The collections are aimed at students at music colleges and schools, teachers and professional performers looking for a new repertoire with a cinematic flavour.

A trio of artists worked on creating this musical extravaganza:

– Mariia Yaremak – composer and creator of the overall concept.

– Viktoria Tkachuk – a professional bandura player who arranged and adapted the pieces for the instrument.

– Oleksandra Dikaya – a well-known illustrator who created the project’s visual world and the cover art.

The scores are written for duets and trios, encouraging musicians to engage in collaborative creativity and ensemble performance. The level of difficulty is aimed at upper secondary school pupils and above.

The collections include both the author’s arrangements of folk gems and original compositions by Mariia Yaremak:

– Folk melodies: ‘Shchedryk’ (for two banduras), ‘Podolyanochka’ (trio), ‘Plyve Kacha’ (rich sound with original arrangements), ‘The Grey Cat’, ‘Ivanku’, ‘The Sleep Is Walking’ and ‘In The Cherry Garden’.

– The Ukrainian National Anthem: A special arrangement for two banduras and a sopilka (or flute), which sounds both lyrical and grand.

– ‘Legend’: An original composition by Mariia Yaremak, adapted for two banduras, which, thanks to its varying tempos and distinctive style, transports the listener to the mystical forests of the Carpathians.

The cover, designed by Oleksandra Dikaya, enhances the fairy-tale atmosphere of the music. The visual imagery reflects a love of Ukrainian melodies and fantasy motifs, making these publications not only useful working materials but also part of the project’s artistic legacy.

The sheet music is available to purchase online. You can choose either the complete collection, individual pieces, or themed editions for duets or ensembles.
