Myroslav Skoryk
Her collaboration with the legacy of Myroslav Skoryk, one of Ukraine’s most outstanding composers, musicologists and a Hero of Ukraine, holds a special place in Mariia Yaremak’s body of work. She has worked on digitising original manuscripts, as well as preparing and editing orchestral scores for concert programmes. In particular, Mariia edited the score and parts for the ‘Symphony of Christmas Carols’ (for symphony orchestra), and also digitised the manuscripts of the works ‘Nocturne and Tarantella’, written for string quartet.
Myroslav Skoryk, winner of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize, has gone down in history as a master at blending Ukrainian folk traditions with the contemporary musical language. He is the composer of over 40 film scores, the opera *Moses*, a Requiem, and the world-famous *Melody in A minor*, which remains one of Ukraine’s most iconic musical symbols.
This work marked an important step in honouring Skoryk’s memory shortly before his death in 2020.

The LvivMozArt Festival
The LvivMozArt Festival is one of the most prestigious events in the field of classical music in Ukraine, bringing together leading international and Ukrainian musicians. Throughout 2018, 2019 and 2021, Mariia Yaremak played an active role in the technical and editorial preparation of orchestral materials, specifically the editing of full scores and individual parts of works by classical composers. This preparation was essential for both live concert performances and special recordings.
Thanks to her professional work with musical scores, Mariia’s contribution has been a vital technical pillar in upholding the festival’s artistic excellence.
Thomas de Hartmann Suite pour Grand Orchestre, Op. 62 – “Une fête en Ukraine”
Work on Thomas de Hartmann’s suite for large orchestra, Op. 62, entitled ‘A Festival in Ukraine’ (‘Une fête en Ukraine’), became an important part of Mariia Yaremak’s efforts to revive Ukraine’s forgotten musical heritage. This project was carried out as part of an initiative to revive the works of de Hartmann – a once-renowned composer born in Ukraine, whose classical music had long been forgotten.
Working closely with Roman Ivaniv, Mariia undertook extensive work to restore and prepare the score for this piece, enabling its world premiere to take place in Lviv. The performance was conducted by the renowned American-Ukrainian conductor Theodore Kucher, accompanied by the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Lviv National Philharmonic.
The suite itself, composed back in 1940, is a multifaceted work comprising eleven movements, including an Overture, Fanfares, Allemande, Courante, Gavotte, Nocturne and others. This painstaking work culminated in the recording and official release of the album “Hartmann: Orchestral Music”, which was released in February 2022 on the Toccata Classics label, introducing this music to listeners around the world.
Concert programme for Mariia Karpynets (oboe) and chamber orchestra
The concert programme for oboe and chamber orchestra was another notable international project by Mariia Yaremak, realised in collaboration with the prestigious Grand Prize Virtuoso competition. This programme was presented in Italy and performed by the ‘Orfeo Stillo’ chamber orchestra under the baton of conductor Fernando Romano.
Especially for soloist Mariia Karpynets (Norway), Mariia adapted a number of compositions, bringing them together into a cohesive programme for oboe and chamber ensemble. One of the key works within this project was the arrangement of Antonín Dvořák’s ‘Humoresques’, in which the oboe part is harmoniously woven into the orchestral sound.

Digitisation of manuscripts and editorial work
Since 2017, Mariia Yaremak has been actively involved in the digitisation of musical manuscripts and editorial work, collaborating with artists and institutions in Ukraine, Europe, America and China. This area of work is critically important for the preservation of musical heritage and its successful integration into the contemporary performance context.
Among Mariia’s notable projects in this field, the following are particularly noteworthy:
– Pavlo Senytsia: digitisation and preparation of the score of the ‘Symphony in F major’ (1905–1907).
– Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: work on the Singspiel *The Theatre Director* for a production at the Lviv National Opera.
– Ludwig van Beethoven: preparation of a Ukrainian version of ‘Ode to Joy’ (‘An die Freude’) especially for the Baltic Opera Festival.
– International projects: digitisation and editing of works by Emily Meyer (Sonata), Boris Loginov (Rite) and Tsui Jian’s composition ‘Love in the Meadows’.
and many others.
This technical and creative support enables the works of classical and contemporary composers to be performed on prestigious stages, ensuring the artistic excellence of each programme and making rare scores accessible to modern orchestras.
